Thom Higgins was born in 1950 and educated in Catholic schools. Heattended the University of North Dakota, and was suspended while there (1967-1968) for writing for an underground newspaper. He moved to the Twin Cities in Minnesota by 1970. He wrote advertising copy and became a nurse. He was a founding member of many gay rights and gay religious organizations before his death in 1994.
