Hist/Bio Note

Gregory Dell, a minister of Broadway United Methodist Church, conducted a marriage service between church members Keith Eccarius and Karl Reinhardt on Sept. 19, 1998. On March 26, 1999 by a vote of 10 to 3, the UMC trial court found Dell guilty of disobedience to the order and discipline of the church and suspended him. In April/May of 1999, Gregory Dell announces becoming the director of the LGBT ally group, In All Things Charity. That summer, Dell appealed the trial court ruling and the Northern Illinois elected Dell as a delegate to General Conference. Although the jurisdictional court upheld the verdict at the appeal, it altered his penality, allowing Bishop Sprague to re-appoint Dell to Broadway UMC on July 1, 2000.
