The Trinity Ordoña Papers collection reflects the life work of Filipina American community activist, professor, scholar, historian and healer Reverend Dr. Trinity Ordoña. This collection reflects a wide range of historical material and scholarship on the histories of lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender and queer Asian and Pacific Islander communities from the 1970s to the 2000s. The collection documents Asian, Asian American, and Asian and Pacific Islander LGBTQ organizations across the United States and in Asia. Her papers also contain materials related to her scholarship and teaching on queer and transgender communities of color and her work as a community healer in organizations such as Healing for Change

Hist/Bio Note

Trinity Ordoña was born in 1950 in San Diego, California to Filipino immigrants. She attended University of California, Berkeley and University of California, Santa Cruz earning a Bachelor of Arts in Asian American History and a PhD in History of Consciousness from the University of California, Santa Cruz, completing her dissertation Coming Out Together: An Ethnohistory of the Asian and Pacific Islander Queer Women’s and Transgendered People’s movement of San Francisco. She was a member of the Union of Democratic Filipinos (KDP) and Line of March from 1973-1985. In the 1980s, she co-organized some of the first Asian and Pacific Islander LGBTQ retreats in Northern California and she toured the United States, providing information on the histories of Asian and Pacific Islander LGBTQ communities. She was an instructor in the Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual, and Transgender Studies Department at City College of San Francisco (CCSF) from 2000-2018 where she taught courses on Queer People of Color and Lesbian Relationships. She was a founding member of Healing for Change, the Red Envelope Giving Circle and Inner Beauty Healing
