Description

The website contains links to pdf copies of annual reports, conference proceedings, activity reports, information for refugees and asylum seekers, and reports on various Middle Eastern countries. It also provides lists of groups and websites active in the early 2000s, primarily in the UK and Canada, offering support or information for Muslim LGBTQ women.

Hist/Bio Note

Founded in 2001, the Safra Project served as a voluntary resource project based in the UK active until 2005. A non-exhaustive selection of documents produced by the Safra Project can be found in the University of Kent's Safra Project Archive (2001-2005) as a part of their Decolonizing Sexualities Network: https://research.kent.ac.uk/decolonizing-sexualities-network/safra-project-archive2001-2005/ The Safra Project conducted research on issues relating to lesbian, bisexual, and transgender women who identify as Muslim culturally and/or religiously with a focus on feminist interpretations of these topics in countries with predominantly Muslim populations. The Project website was maintained until 2016.

Once on the archived website, links and subsequent snapshots can be navigated. The domain name "SafraProject" changed to a different owner in 2017 an no longer relates to this Safra Project.
